As I’ve been uploading this epic post (of some of my favourite bird designs online) I’ve been listening to the near constant football rattle of a couple of magpies outside. Touch ironic: they’re the only bird i DON’T like. they can’t sing, they can barely fly and they seem to spend most of their time harassing smaller birds and eating their young. talentless bully-boys…

100% designer-maker shopping experience!

I’ll be here, with more cards and prints than a Paperchase warehouse. The previous fairs have been great. There’s a touch of the vintage bonanza about the whole affair. Catered by The Marvellous Tea Dance Company. And yes, the cakes are indeed Marvellous.

Vintage Bazaar: Summer 2010 Ilkley, West Yorkshire

Ilkley vintage bazaar is on June 19. Its always a little bit special, since there’s a vintage style tea party thrown in as well (I recommend the Guinness and  chocolate cake with cream cheese icing btw). Here’s the blurb: 1900 to 1980 vintage furniture, fashion, textiles, hats, jewellery, bags, recycled homewares, quilts.

New Light

Has been a while since I’ve had time to browse my favourite shops online so not surprised to discover the fabuloso Radiance appears to have lots of lovely new housey and lifestyle stuff, including these simple but brilliant wired flowers by Dutch designer Jurianne Matter; a foxy tea towel by Lush Designs, cards by Sanna Annukka, and a (relatively?) new dandelion lamp design by Radiance owner Hannah Nunn.

This Week’s Love

Getting into Buildings

Am very out of flowers, and very into buildings. Here’s a capital collection. So many I don’t quite have the street spirit to list them all here, but you can click on them and they’ll take you to their homes.

Full of (Independent) Christmas Spirit

latenightshopping

why hebden bridge, you might wonder? well, its a characterful little town, bursting with independent shops and spirits, and a proper creative hub. If you want to buy something different, direct from the maker, ethically sourced, made with love, sold with a smile etc etc… or if you’d rather sit in a lovely warm cafe/pub/restaurant while someone else does the late night shopping, then this is the place…in West Yorkshire.
