Have had a new sample peacock wall decal printed (finally!) and can’t decide between vivid, near fluorescent new colours (above 1) or more ‘adult-like’ hues of previous version (above 2), bearing in my all previous versions – as far as I know –  have been bought by women for themselves. Advice please! Which would you prefer? Everyone who comments before August 15th will be entered into draw for a Tiger and Jungle sticker set (below) on the 16th.

As I’ve been uploading this epic post (of some of my favourite bird designs online) I’ve been listening to the near constant football rattle of a couple of magpies outside. Touch ironic: they’re the only bird i DON’T like. they can’t sing, they can barely fly and they seem to spend most of their time harassing smaller birds and eating their young. talentless bully-boys…

Because its New Year, I’m letting go of my last two ‘Berberis’ gallery canvases. They were one of the first creative products I designed for my own pleasure. I only had about 25 – maybe 30 – printed, but kept the last two unframed and out of sight, until last week. Half of me is still loathe to sell them, since the way in which they were printed can’t be reproduced. However, since I don’t have a place to hang one, or much space left to store them, it’s goodbye my beauties! May you beam your magenta love into someone else’s living room/bedroom/awkward-spot-at-top-of-landing!

Wish I’d spotted these before Christmas. Wouldn’t have needed much else and then left them all year… and coloured tissue paper always brings back sweet memories of making crown hats for the Christmas party at infant school. Sigh. The best of times… Available from Re, who also sell those Mexican paper picados. Double love!

why hebden bridge, you might wonder? well, its a characterful little town, bursting with independent shops and spirits, and a proper creative hub. If you want to buy something different, direct from the maker, ethically sourced, made with love, sold with a smile etc etc… or if you’d rather sit in a lovely warm cafe/pub/restaurant while someone else does the late night shopping, then this is the place…in West Yorkshire.

100% Handmade is a new and exciting fair offering fresh new designers and makers all createing beautiful quirky pieces.   The event will showcase makers of bags, jewellery, small gifts, photography, homewares and much more.  The idea behind this event is to bring together a group of talented people to Leeds;  and to build it into an annual event.

The Green Sand Foundry is a beautiful old mill building in Holbeck, close to Leeds city centre, near  to the train station.
