Green with Envy
I needed this dress by D4discus, who have a stall at Spitalfields Market. I google ‘green dress’ about every fortnight looking for the holy grail of garments. Plus I love fawns, deers – things with big brown eyes and sunset skin (http://www.etsy.com/listing/35262826). I won’t get over this one. its a OOAK, cos its made with a vintage scarf. bum-mer!

Full of (Independent) Christmas Spirit
why hebden bridge, you might wonder? well, its a characterful little town, bursting with independent shops and spirits, and a proper creative hub. If you want to buy something different, direct from the maker, ethically sourced, made with love, sold with a smile etc etc… or if you’d rather sit in a lovely warm cafe/pub/restaurant while someone else does the late night shopping, then this is the place…in West Yorkshire.
More Brilliant Craft Concepts!
jam jar/tin can wrap from The Craft Potter; pencil scarf by Sara Carr. Both available from Folksy
Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair
22-25th October, Spinningfields, Manchester City Centre: ‘a unique shopping experience and an excellent opportunity to see and buy the latest works in jewellery, interior textiles, fashion accessories, ceramics, glass, silver, wood, furniture, paper and more from 140 of the most talented designer-makers in the UK.’
Don’t mess with my tutu!

I decided to make a tutu for my friend’s kid’s birthday. I’ve not so much as sewn a button on since school, I’ve no patience for fiddly handiwork and said toddler’s mum is a fashion buyer (coals to Newcastle?) so everything was in place for a truly rubbish present…. I like to be perverse.
Anyway, there was a fairytale ending after all. 2 year old Bobbi can now go to the ball, in the spangly blue and sequin-banded 4-layered piece of froth what I made. I am such a proud – and touch boastful? – non parent… even if the ’stitching’ (in its loosest technical sense) does look like some kind of exotic woodworm.
