I Love Trees
Have just updated a couple of things on my Etsy and Folksy shops, including a new Red Riding Hood listing – with blonde hair!, and some photos of my new Spanish donkey Summer print. Looking at them next to each other, I think I must be principally obsessed with the trees. That’s where the work seems to go into.
One Day Sale on Dawanda
Well, the header’s said it all really: there’s a one day 11% discount sale on Art and Accessories today on Dawanda, tenuously in celebration of the World Cup. Ha! Relevence? Anyway, nothing to complain about. I’ve included my prints, in celebration of those who are NOT interested in the World Cup so far but will probably start getting into it by the semi-finals. Happens every time.
FREE love
Its a Smiths lyric, of course, from ‘there is a light that never go out’ – i think! … sigh. its been a long time since I listened to those dodgy old cassettes on my sellotaped walkman, the ones I taped over Kylie and Jason after my taste ‘matured’.
Anyway, I’m going to load this on to etsy as a hi-res printable print for Valentine’s Day, but I’ll send you the link for free if you leave a comment, join my mailing list, or follow my random inanities on Twitter…just say hi really… it can get lonely in cyberspace.
RTFM!
I’m going to do something I never thought possible tonight: I’m going to read my digital camera MANUAL. Un-bel-iev-a-ble. See, one of my less ambitious New Year’s resolutions is to learn to focus the blinking thing. My prints are great, but the photos are terribly AMATEUR. Composition’s crap too, which is weird, because when I’m working on the actual designs, that’s what I sweat over to make perfect. Strange…

Farewell My Lovely!
Because its New Year, I’m letting go of my last two ‘Berberis’ gallery canvases. They were one of the first creative products I designed for my own pleasure. I only had about 25 – maybe 30 – printed, but kept the last two unframed and out of sight, until last week. Half of me is still loathe to sell them, since the way in which they were printed can’t be reproduced. However, since I don’t have a place to hang one, or much space left to store them, it’s goodbye my beauties! May you beam your magenta love into someone else’s living room/bedroom/awkward-spot-at-top-of-landing!

‘R’ is for Rancid (great products tho)

aaah september and the first days of school… takes me back: the smell of wax crayons, the sound of scraping chairs, the taste of putrifying milk….the taste of putrifying milk???? oh yes, i was a child of the eighties and was forced to drink full fat, cream topped milk at school under some government guidelines or other (since scrapped). It was warm, curdled and congealed (no exaggeration) and smelt like a hot day’s muck spreading… deeply, irredeemably foul.

Muttley Crew
more from the 1960 ‘Comics’ book: a veritable pack of bruisers, losers and bozos (is that a word?).
Draw your own Barbara Woodhouse
More vintage illustrations of children, this time courtesy of a 1960 Walter T Foster ‘How to Draw’ book entitled ‘Comics’. This little lady is assuming the grand mantle of Barbara Woodhouse, British dog trainer par excellence, shaking her fat finger at one seriously cute canine. His posture’s better than hers!.. I’ll post more from the book soon.
